What is the Fairbanks Community Food Bank?

We Need & Appreciate You!

The Fairbanks Community Food Bank collects and re-distributes donated food to individuals and agencies. Food is distributed through many programs including Food Boxes, Bone Builders, and Agency Shopping.

The Fairbanks Community Food Bank makes a difference in the lives of neighbors by sharing resources. The generous people of Fairbanks truly live the lessons taught by the Stone Soup Legend – Fairbanks Style.
It’s easy to become a Food Bank volunteer! Volunteers do great things at the Food Bank! More than 16,700 hours were donated last year. Over 50 volunteer hours are needed each day to help alleviate hunger in our area. Food Bank volunteers sort donations, pack food boxes, and help coordinate and distribute the food relief that we give to our fellow Alaskans to help them through their tough times.

VOLUNTEER DAY DETAILS
Date: Tuesday July 30th, 10:00am-12:00pm. Please arrive 10 minutes early.
Lunch will be provided to all volunteers who wish to stay and eat.

WHAT WE WILL BE DOING
There are a variety of opportunities at the Food Bank. Our day will start with a quick tour of the facility and some more background information about the food bank and services provided. As a group we will be packing non-perishable food boxes and creating pallet loads to be distributed to remote locations and villages in Alaska.

CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS
Everyone must come in closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing.

NOTES

This is a family friendly volunteer event (jobs available to kids 6 or older), but if you have children under 16, please know that it will be your responsibility to supervise them.
